PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana National Guard’s 199th Regiment (Regional Training Institute) held a change of responsibility ceremony at Camp Cook Gymnasium in Ball, Louisiana, Sept. 30, 2026. During the ceremony, Command Sgt. Maj. Clinton W. Ainsworth assumed responsibility for the 1st Battalion, Noncommissioned Officer Academy, from Command Sgt. Maj. Dorian G. Brumley.
Col. Stewart A. Adams, commander of the 199th Regiment (RTI), presided over the ceremony and passed the unit colors to Ainsworth, symbolizing the transfer of responsibility.
Adams praised Brumley for his leadership as the academy’s 14th commandant and thanked him for the time and personal sacrifices he made while serving in the position.
“The academy exceeded the standard with you as commandant,” Adams said. “You missed a lot of birthdays and other family and personal events for this academy, and for that I personally thank you for your time and sacrifice.”
Adams then welcomed Ainsworth as the academy’s 15th commandant and emphasized the responsibility of developing the Army’s future noncommissioned officers.
“The legacy of a good commandant is to nurture the future leaders of the Army, and I have no doubt you will only enhance that legacy,” Adams said.
Brumley reflected on his time leading the academy and thanked the Soldiers, mentors and family members who supported him throughout his tenure.
“It has been the most rewarding time in my military career,” Brumley said. “Serving here with each and every NCO has made me so proud of the work we have accomplished together, and I will cherish all the memories we have made.”
Ainsworth then addressed the formation and outlined his priorities as the academy’s new commandant.
“I am humbled and honored to be the next commandant at the NCO Academy,” Ainsworth said. “Our mission is clear: develop competent, disciplined, adaptive and battle-tested NCOs. We will uphold the standards, demand excellence and invest in our facilitators and our staff.”
Ainsworth thanked Brumley, his family and the guests in attendance before accepting the responsibility of leading the academy.
During the ceremony, Adams awarded Brumley the Army Commendation Medal in recognition of his service.
The ceremony concluded with applause for the outgoing and incoming commandants and the singing of the Army Song.
